If you run a hospitality business on Toast, you already know that sales numbers only tell half the story. Two locations can post the same nightly revenue and still be running very different businesses — one serving twice as many guests at half the check size. To understand what's really happening on the floor, you need guest count sitting right next to your sales data in the general ledger.
That's exactly what we've just made possible.
Bookkeep can now post the guest count reported by your Toast locations to your accounting platform as its own journal entry — automatically, every night, right alongside your existing Toast sales summary postings.
Once it's turned on, there's nothing more to do. Bookkeep pulls the guest count from each connected Toast location and generates the entry on its own, matching your existing sales posting cadence. If you want historical data in right away, a manual import brings in past dates in a few clicks.
For accounting platforms like Sage Intacct, guest count can also post as a statistical journal entry — a one-sided entry designed specifically for non-financial metrics like this, so it sits cleanly in your books without affecting your balanced financials. Everyone else gets a standard, balanced journal entry by default.
For large hospitality groups and multi-location operators, guest count next to sales unlocks one of the most useful metrics in restaurant accounting: revenue per guest.
With both data points already flowing into your ledger through Bookkeep, revenue per guest becomes something you can report on by location, by day part, by revenue center — the same way you already slice sales data today. That means:
If you're already using Bookkeep's Toast integration, this feature is available now — just turn it on from your Connections page. If you haven't connected Toast yet, book a demo with Bookkeep and we'll get you set up.
Guest count and sales data, together, in the accounting platform you already trust. That's the kind of visibility hospitality accounting has been missing — and it's here.
