June Product Updates — Smarter Shopify Setup, Flexible Square Reporting, and Zoho Vendor Mapping

At Bookkeep, we’re constantly evolving our platform to align more closely with how ecommerce and retail merchants work. This June, we’ve delivered updates that streamline setup, improve accuracy, and offer more customization across platforms like Shopify, Square, and Zoho Books.

Here’s what’s new:

1. Streamlined Shopify Connection Flow (Now Embedded)

With Bookkeep now embedded inside the Shopify admin, we’ve overhauled the connection process to make setup faster and more intuitive:

  • You’ll now select a Bookkeep entity when connecting your Shopify store.

  • If the Shopify account email matches your Bookkeep account, we’ll skip the verification step.

  • If the emails don’t match, we’ll prompt for quick verification before proceeding.

This improved flow ensures a smoother onboarding experience and prevents misconfigurations—especially helpful for firms managing multiple Shopify stores.

2. Square Flexibility: Record Payments by Authorization Time

Some Square merchants—especially those using preauthorization workflows—need sales to reflect when the customer actually authorized a transaction, not just when it was captured.

Now, Bookkeep offers flexible payment recognition for Square:

  • Record payments based on authorization timestamp

  • Align your accounting with your Square transaction reports

  • Avoid timing mismatches, especially in service-based businesses

📌 This setting can be enabled by request through our support team.

3. Improved Zoho Books Integration: Track by Customer or Vendor

If you’re using Zoho Books, you can now map a customer or vendor to each journal entry, improving how your data is organized and reported.

Benefits include:

  • Cleaner, more informative journal entries

  • Easier filtering in Zoho for customer/vendor-specific insights

  • Better reconciliation workflows

This is especially helpful for firms managing multiple locations or clients through a single Zoho Books instance.

These updates are now live. If you need help enabling any of these features, reach out to our support team—we’re here to help.
